Buying presents for friends and loved ones can be difficult. Finding the perfect gift while staying in budget takes more time than you usually expect. To help ease this process, here’s a list of some of my personal go-to present ideas.
- Customized Wine Glass
Drinking wine by itself is enjoyable, but drinking wine in your very own “Harry Potter” themed wine glass? Now that takes it to a whole new level of fun. Search the Internet for a glass that suits your friend’s personality. If you can’t find anything online, try painting one yourself! This is a particularly good idea for anyone turning 21, but it works for other occasions as well.
- Coffee Mug
If the person you’re shopping for is more of a coffee fiend than a wine fan, consider getting him or her a nice mug. Drinking your morning (or afternoon, or evening…) coffee is so much more enjoyable when you have a cute mug in hand.
- DIY Cake (or Cookies) in a Jar
If the gift recipient has a sweet tooth, a homemade baked good mix in a mason jar is a clever idea to satisfy their craving. Include the dry ingredients for their favorite sweet treat and tie a ribbon around the jar to add some flair. Although still simple, this is much more thoughtful than simply gifting a box of store-bought mix.
- A Potted Plant
For those friends who were born with green thumbs and a love of nature, consider a potted plant. Whether it’s something useful, like an herb plant, or just ornamental, you can easily jazz up this gift by painting the pot it’s in. And for those friends who love nature but lack a green thumb, consider a cactus or another type of succulent that needs less care.
- A Book
When in doubt, go for a book. There really is a book for everyone, so think about the person’s interests and look for fun books on that subject. Does your friend like “Star Wars”? Give them “William Shakespeare’s Star Wars.” Are they constantly correcting your grammar? Try “Wretched Writing: A Compendium of Crimes Against the English Language.” You get the idea.
