Powerful Skin Care Routines That Pack a Punch

I have always channeled my stress into a variety of things. Sometimes I don’t eat enough, or I eat too much. Sometimes I can’t sleep, and other days I can’t make it past noon without a nap. Regardless of how the rest of my mind and body reacts to this, there is one constant in my stress: My skin freaks out along with it.

Since starting college, I’ve tried every product known to man for just about everything, from surprise zits to acne scars to dry and flaky skin. It wasn’t until recently that I developed my own personal skincare routine, and I haven’t looked back ever since. While everyone’s skin is different, it is important to develop a routine that works for you and to follow the necessary steps for brighter and fresher skin.

Cleansing

I get it. Sometimes you’re tired or you’ve come home from a night out and you just plop right onto your bed without washing your makeup. We’ve all done it, but it’s super important not to continue this habit. Investing in a miracle face cleanser is probably the most important step in your skincare routine, as this is where you get rid of all of the makeup, toxins and dirt that has accumulated on your face. Make sure you get a cleanser that’s right for your skin type. For example, I always use a fragrance-free cleanser so that it won’t be too rough on my skin. Removing dirt from your skin paves the way for the next steps that will help you achieve near perfection.

Toning

Like your mind, skin is a complicated part of your body. You wouldn’t think that there would be much to it besides washing and go, but its complex makeup of oils, acids and cells make it important for you to take care of it properly. That’s where toner comes in. Toner helps remove some of the dead skin cells from your face, while adding extra hydration and helping restore the pH balance of your skin. It is to be used immediately after cleansing for the best effect. Some of the best toners include drug store brands, but you can also make your own out of ingredients such as apple cider vinegar, micellar water and some teas. Just rubbing the right amount on your face with a cotton ball will make all the different in the long run.

Moisturizing

I always thought moisturizing was for a later age. I would see my mom apply her moisturizer every night along with her anti-aging cream. It never dawned on me that I would be doing the same so quickly.Moisturizing is for all types. Whether you’re young or a bit older, or your skin is dry or oily, it is possibly one of the most important steps because it brings your skincare routine to an end by sealing in all the vitamins from the previous two steps. Like cleanser and toner, there are different types of moisturizers for all skin tones, but it is important to apply at least every night, while also being careful not to overdo it; too much moisturizer can block your pores.

Aside from these three things, there are a number of other products that will lead you to brighter skin. Putting on sunscreen and drinking vitamins, such as biotin, will allow your skin to flourish in ways that that you never thought possible. Products such as face masks, eye cream, spot correction and serums will also help brighten your skin. The important thing is to know your skin type. Once you’ve become familiar with what your skin needs, you can take the steps to wake up that natural glow that will have everybody jealous of your flawless skin.
