The Real Issue

Hello and welcome to the Orange & Blue Magazine.

Each fall and spring semester, students taking the Applied Magazines course must choose a theme for the upcoming O&B Magazine issue.

In this issue for the fall 2018 semester, we  are focusing on the word “real” and how it is an important component for our daily lives.

When discussing ideas, we shared some of interests, passions, likes and dislikes, and every day issues to come up with a theme. We discussed topics we would want to cover.

One of our theme choices was real and we began questioning what the word “real” means.  We wanted to create an issue that could represent Gainesville and Alachua County in the correct way, which is how the real issue was born.

When we think of “real,” words that come to mind are raw, soul-bearing, authentic, honest, confident, natural, accurate, vulnerable, wholesome and genuine.

Life is real. The good, the bad and the ugly.

Our issue will delve into real problems, real society, real foods, real drinks, real fashion, real love, real traditions, real people, and the real lives of people in Gainesville and Alachua County.

Stay tuned to check out more of our content this semester.
