Sometimes, a bike ride is the perfect form of exercise. Other days, a deep breath and some stretching is what you crave. Most likely, you aren’t going to tackle both cycling and yoga in one day- unless you take a Ride and Relax class at UF.
Ride and Relax isn’t new to UF- but it’s one class not many students know about. It starts with 45 minutes of intense cycling followed by 30 minutes of stretching and yoga.
I’ve taken quite a few cycling classes, but it wasn’t until this semester that I tried a Ride and Relax class. I don’t know much about yoga, and was worried I would be completely lost if I went. A friend persuaded me to sign up, and the class was so different from what I had expected.
The yoga portion of the class is basically based on what you know. If you’re an expert, you can do all poses the instructor talks about. If not, that are similar stretches that any beginner can tackle. I think that the long stretch after this workout is extremely helpful and makes for a better workout.
The Ride and Relax class is offered at the Southwest Recreation Center on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m. and on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.
