Do you ever crave dessert, but baking sounds too daunting? Say hello to the mug cake, one of the latest food blog trends.
This humble dessert is nothing to be scoffed at. The beauty of a mug cake is its simplicity. Cake batter is mixed in a mug and nuked in the microwave.
This one-pot, one serving dessert requires few ingredients. A deconstructed mug cake typically contains four components: a carbohydrate, a sweetener, a binder and a rising agent.
Bloggers have gotten creative with this basic formula. Recipes for mug cakes call for fresh strawberries, Nutella, pumpkin puree, shredded coconut and hot chocolate mix. But the craziest mug cake on the Internet so far has got to be the Avocado Brownie Mug Cake.
