His collection was full of oranges and blues

Out of the hundreds of designers who show their collections at Fashion Week, Michael Kors is among the few whose name people can not only pronounce but also whose brand is actually pretty well understood. This is because Michael Kors is everyone’s go-to guy for classic, functional and stylish American sportswear. It’s not like the pieces of art we see on the runway and ask ourselves, “Who the hell in their right mind would actually wear this?” Oh, and his watches are pretty hot too at the moment.
But anyway, after we all waited for his highly anticipated collection to go viral after his show took place Wednesday morning, us Gator girls were all pleasantly surprised to see a collection flooded with bright hues of cobalt blue and tangerine orange. And if you didn’t see it yet, watch the video on YouTube or his website. You can also go to Style.com to see pictures of all the looks because you definitely don’t want to be left out of this one.
Amongst the collection were both camouflage and houndstooth-patterned pantsuits in royal blue and black. Black, patent leather detail appeared within many of the looks throughout the show — via zippers, linear piping, gloves, sleeves, handbags, pockets, belts and shoes — to maintain structure, to balance out the bright Gator-colored hues and to create that “sleek, upscale-Manhattan-with-an-edge” look.
And it’s also safe to say Mr. Kors had a huge crush on peplum during the time he was designing this collection. Peplum was featured in orange and blue on black mini dresses as overskirts — where the extended backs of the skirts grazed the runway as models walked — as well as leather bustier pencil dresses and tweed skirts. The bright orange pencil skirt with the side patent leather zipper slit was a standout for the Gator girls. A futuristic edge was accomplished by rectangular, space-looking glasses, sleek ponytails on models, and added touches of metallic silver and charcoal.
