Fashion Friday: Sweaters You Need This Winter

By Karina Cuevas

It goes like this: Once the temperature drops, morning classes seem unbearable and optional and the process of building a perfect outfit that keeps us toasty daunts us. Thankfully, having a go-to sweater in your wardrobe makes even the chilliest of days a bit merrier. Since five sweaters is better than one, here are my top picks. Check it out!

Classic Grey Sweater, Nasty Gal, $58

The timeless sweater gets a makeover with a trendy hi-lo hem and is perfect for the colder winter months when paired with a pair of leather leggings and lace-up combat boots. Luckily for you, it’s also perfect for warmer days, tucked into your favorite pair of high-waisted shorts.

The Draped Cardigan, Forever21, $27.80

Take your basic cardigan to new lengths with an open front and draped sides. Layer it over a basic or graphic tee and skinny jeans for a chic look.

The V-Neck Sweater, American Eagle Outfitters, $29.99

Any effortless ensemble wouldn’t be complete without a v-neck sweater. The easy fit of the sweater makes it a great complement to a fitting mini skirt for a relaxed, yet stylish fit.

The Cropped Sweater, Urban Outfitters, $49

Keep it cropped in the winter months too, as you bring one of summer’s top trends into the colder season. The cropped sweater would look best with high-waisted skinny jeans or a flared skirt. You can also try it in fun fall colors, such as royal blue or yellow.

The Striped Sweater, ZARA, $59.90

The striped sweater is a wardrobe staple because of its versatility throughout the year — Come on, what doesn’t a striped sweater look good with? Match a striped sweater in neutral colors with accessories in bolder colors, such as a burgundy scarf, to spice up the ensemble.
