Turn Your Day Around with the Right Smoothie

I used to never drink smoothies. In fact, I never even touched fruit. That all changed last summer when my mom gifted me with a Magic Bullet. A small and less dangerous looking blender? Sign me up!

Since then, I have become dependent on quick and easy smoothies. As it turns out, there’s a smoothie for every mood you could possibly have. Here are a few single-serving recipes for those days when you could use a little help.

Sick? Some vitamin C certainly won’t hurt!

  •  1 1/2 cups of a nondairy milk
  • 1 cup of fresh strawberries
  • 1/2 tablespoon of lemon zest
  • 1/2 of a small orange
  • 1/2 of a small banana
  • 1/2 cup of spinach

Feeling down in the dumps? Bananas are great for lifting your mood, and they help your brain create serotonin.

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of nondairy milk
  • A few blackberries

Hungover? We’ve all been there. Luckily, there’s a way to detox!

  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1 cup of coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup of orange juice
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 kiwi
  • 1/2 cup of pineapple
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

Too tired to tackle your busy day? Let this smoothie wake you up! Kale is great for getting some extra energy.

  • 1/2 cup of almond milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of pineapple
  • 1/2 cup of strawberries
  • 1 cup of kale

When it comes to smoothies, there are endless options and combinations. Try out some of these recipes or create your own, because you never know when they’ll come in handy!
